9:15 – 10:15
In Ki Tisa, we read about how the Israelites, waiting for Moses to come down from Sinai, built the golden calf. This act is seen as the epitome of betrayal, a prime example of the Israelites breaking faith with God. In rabbinic literature, idolatry often is equated with adultery. In both cases, a covenant is tested; both involve a fundamental challenge to a relationship, whether human or divine. What insight can we gain from the analogy, and what can the Torah teach us about relationships and repair?
