    Jewish Mindfulness Meditation: Meditating with Joy

    Peace, quiet, contemplation and meditation in our Alyth Meditation Room, open to all.

    This week: Meditating with joy – an act of devotion with Mika Hadar-Borthwick, finding the inner space of joy and devotion in the practice of meditation.

    The founder of Hasidism, Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov (1698–1760) is quoted as saying “In the eyes of the Hasidim, joy is considered a biblical commandment, a mitzvah.”

    If you are thinking about leining (singing) your Bar or Bat Mitzvah Torah portion please attend this introductory session run by Viv Bellos, our Emeritus Director of Music. At this session Viv will explain the process of learning the singing and introduce you to the neginot (musical accents) found in the Torah.
