    Thursday Bridge@Alyth

    14:00-16:30

On Thursday afternoons we offer friendly Rubber Bridge, which runs from 14:00 – 16:30.  Everyone is welcome, with or without a partner.  We aim to place players with other people of a similar standard, so if it is your first time, please come a little earlier so that we know where to place you.

Tea and biscuits are served mid-way through the session.  Play is not supervised, although sometimes our organisers are available to give limited advice.

The cost is £3 for Alyth members and £4 for non-members with any profits go to synagogue funds.  For further information please telephone either Sheila or Michael on 020 8455 9878.

The Cairo Genizah at Cambridge University Library Outing

    09:00 – 18:00

For a thousand years the Jewish community of Old Cairo put their worn-out writings into a synagogue storage room, a genizah.

Join Rabbi Mark to explore one of the greatest collections of Cambridge University Library and a remarkable survival of the medieval past. A window on the life of a Jewish community a thousand years ago – a community in the centre of a thriving Islamic empire, international in outlook and  multicultural in make up.

Cost of trip is £25 which includes transport from and back to Alyth and admissions.

We will enjoy lunch in a local café.

Contact bonnie@alyth.org.uk to book your place.
