Alyth’s 2017 Trip to Israel

‘Politics, Creativity and World Reform Judaism’

Wednesday 10 May – Sunday 21 May 2017

Our Rabbis invite you to come with them to Israel for a wonderful trip of Jewish learning, friendship and seeing ‘behind the curtain’ into new perspectives on Israel.   This is a trip in three parts and you can join us for any or all of them.

Part One: Israel’s Jewish Creativity

From Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 May, join Rabbi Josh as we enjoy the best of Judaism in Israel.  We will experience Israel as a place of creativity in tefillah, study and art and will learn from innovators about their motivation and successes.

Part Two: The Israeli / Palestinian Struggle

From Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 May our Rabbis are together leading an opportunity to delve into the politics of Israel.  We will speak with and visit Israelis and Palestinians at the heart of the issues which help and hinder peace, in Israel and the West Bank, including members of the Knesset.  We will hear from all parts of the political spectrum and will have time to discuss our experiences with each other too.

Part Three: WUPJ Connections

From Thursday 18 to Saturday 20 May, Jerusalem hosts the Biennial Convention of the World Union for Progressive Judaism.  Share this unique opportunity with your rabbis and community, as together we experience the richness of our Judaism around the world.   Visit www.wupjconnections.org for details of the programme, which Rabbi Mark is helping to develop.

We aim to keep the total cost of the first two parts of the trip to under £1500 (excluding flights).  This cost will be inclusive of full board, Israel transport and admissions.  There will be an option to choose just one of the first two parts at a substantially reduced cost.  Price for the third part will be the cost of the Convention which includes accommodation in Jerusalem.   Bursaries will be available to help with the cost for those who need it.
