Alyth's Biblical Book Club: Book of Job

    20:00 – 22:00

The Jewish Bible is made up of 35 books ranging in length from the one chapter Book of Ovadiah to the sixty-six chapter Book of Isaiah.  Our Biblical Book Club will give you the opportunity to read the books we don’t hear in synagogue services, and even some which did not make the Bible, and then study and discuss their fascinating content with Alyth’s Rabbis.

This month Rabbi Mark asks you to read the Book of Job which asks the essential question “how can bad things happen to good people?” Please contact bonnie@alyth.org.uk or 020 8457 8784 to register.  If you need a copy of the Book of Job please let us know so we can provide one – if you have your own, you can use any version, but please do bring it with you on the evenings.

    Alyth Film Club: Crossing Delancey

    19:30 – 22:00

30-something single Isabelle Grossman, who works at a small Manhattan bookstore, is a modern, emancipated Jewish woman who doesn’t need a man to fulfil her or define her as a person. Her Lower East Side grandmother – her “Bubbie” – disagrees and hires a matchmaker, who sets her up with a pickle maker and vendor. A clash of cultures follows.
