Shiur: Professor Simon Baron-Cohen - Without Empathy is it Impossible to fix the Past Year?

    9:15 – 10:15

Empathy, attempting to understand why the other person is upset, is our most valuable social resource because it has the power to resolve conflicts.  But what happens where empathy is lacking?  Join one of the world’s leading experts in autism and developmental psychopathology, Professor Simon Baron-Cohen of the University of Cambridge, author of ‘Zero Degrees of Empathy’, for this fascinating shiur.

Simon will also be giving the sermon in the Shabbat morning Classical service.

    Selichot Film and Service

    20:00 – 23:00

It is traditional to begin the High Holy Days by coming together on a Saturday evening for Selichot, the first opportunity to hear and recite our poems of pardon.

We will start the evening with Woody Allen’s ‘Crimes and Misdemeanours’, a film that asks what happens when no one can see the mistakes we make.

After light refreshments, we will transition into our reflective choral service with Rabbi Mark and Viv Bellos, beginning at 22:15.
