At Alyth we love nothing more than to celebrate with two people who choose to marry.  A wedding symbolises the hopes, dreams and aspirations for the couple.  Whether the wedding is for two Jews, a Jew and a non-Jew, heterosexual or same-sex couples, the Clergy and Marriage Secretary are available to be a part of the journey.

A member of the Clergy will work closely with you to make your day special and personal to you.  The Head of Community Care & Life Cycle will take you through all the legalities needed prior to the big day.

When booking the venue for your chuppah you may like to considering using Alyth and its various rooms.  Email Sarah or call 020 8457 8787, she will be happy to help you with the possibilities.

Aufruf

Aufruf is a Yiddish word which means “calling up”. It is customary to call a couple who are about to celebrate their wedding to the bimah for an aliyah (reciting the blessings before and after the Torah is read).  The aufruf is normally on the Shabbat prior to their wedding.  After the aliyah, the rabbi or cantor recites a blesses the couple.

Conversion

Alyth welcomes any person who sincerely wishes to convert to Judaism.  In common with all other Reform Synagogues, we offer a straightforward process of building commitment, knowledge and experience through which a person can become a respected member of the Jewish community.
