A Caring Community

The wellbeing of the congregation is paramount in our thoughts and we encourage all our members, wherever possible, to look out for the care and welfare of each other.  

There are a number of volunteer opportunities and you can be a part of our exciting Volunteer Programme - Open our eyes and our hearts and our hands....

The Caring Things We Do

Assistance can be given on a range of matters including information on nursing homes, sheltered accommodation, obtaining disability aids, registering for Dial a Ride and the Taxi Card Schemes and details of counselling and other welfare services.  We offer support and assistance to many during life cycle events including a volunteer Bereavement Group who provide a caring voice to those recently bereaved.  A Glossary definitionShul Shuttle which, wherever possible, helps those with transport difficulties go to and from the Synagogue; we deliver fruit or flowers to the housebound at Glossary definitionPurim and Glossary definitionSukkot; Shabbat bayit cham (warm house) lunches made by members of the community and participants experience a shared Shabbat lunch following the Shabbat morning service.

Open our eyes and our hearts and our hands..... The Volunteer Project of the North Western Reform Synagogue - a caring community

Volunteer Opportunites include making food for the sick or bereaved, joining an action group, visiting the housebound or those in hospital, teaching a cheder or adult education class, helping to develop all sorts of new projects; visiting Shabbat challahs to the housebound, singing in the choir, taking part in services; social action projects; cooking and baking; silver cleaning.   Becoming an Alyth Volunteer does not need to be an onerous task and there are many ways in which you can help.
